REGISTRATION BEGINS IN MARCH

Tweens and teens need positive role models, accepting social groups, exposure to the outdoors, and new challenges every day. Getting around town safely is a part of that. Making new friends is part of that too. Camp Bike Fun will get your kids out of the house, away from TV screens, and exploring the best Portland has to offer—all by bike!

Camp Bike Fun, hosted by North Portland Bike Works, is open to 10-15 year olds of all fitness and skill levels.

Cost is $190 per week, and includes bicycles and helmets provided by the Bicycle Transportation Alliance.  Scholarships are available.

Registration starts in March. Contact the North Portland Bike Works for more information:

We will offer programs in 4 sessions:

Session 1: June 21st- July 2nd (2 weeks)

Session 2: July 5th to July 16th (2 weeks)

Session 3: July 19th to August 6th (3 weeks)

Session 4: August 9th to August 27th (3 weeks)

From our home base at North Portland Bikeworks, Camp Bike Fun will offer ongoing instruction in individual and group bicycle skills and safety. Mostly, though, we’ll be learning by doing as we’re all about the field trips!

From zine-making to urban fruit gleaning, Camp Bike Fun activities celebrate the abundance of resources within in our local community and the creative potential of our youth.

Camp Bike fun will take your kids where no camp has taken them before: your own back yard!

Your kids will learn the wonders of bike transit and the power of community through daily adventures that include:

Recreation (swimming, festivals, art projects, hiking, playgrounds, rollerskating)

Skills building (canoeing, yoga, ultimate frisbee, gardening, drawing)

Exploring local sites of  historical, cultural, and environmental interest

Community involvement (many service learning opportunities and tours of local co-ops, community organizations, and youth leadership groups)

Safety is first at Camp Bike Fun and we move at a pace that is comfortable for everyone. We will start slow and branch out further as strength and riding skills develop.

Here, biking is just the beginning: not only will students improve their bicycle riding skills they will learn about themselves and their community. Students will have fun, make memories, and work together as a team to leave the community a little better than it was at the beginning of the summer.

At Camp Bike Fun, campers won’t just learn about their community, they’ll help create it. After a session with the masterminds of the bikeportland.org blog, campers will write their own articles to submit to local papers. They will even bring their ideas for citywide youth and biking programs to city hall!
