Unnatural Causes, the February 9th Multicultural Film Festival documentary, is presented by the Jefferson High/North Portland Neighborhood Library Partnership and facilitated by Mr. Fred Miller of Portland Community College.  What most of us knew is now documented: There exists a health gradient tied to wealth: those at the top average longer, healthier lives; those at the bottom get sicker more often and die sooner.

Clues:
•     It's not CEOs dropping dead from heart attacks, but their subordinates.
•     Poor smokers are at higher risk of disease than rich smokers.
•     Recent Latino immigrants, though typically poorer, enjoy better health than the average
American. But the longer they're here, the worse their health becomes.

Each step down the class pyramid, people tend to be sicker and die sooner. Poor Americans die on average almost six years sooner than the rich.

Come view the documentary and add your voice to the discussion February 9, 5 PM, N. Portland Nieghborhood Library, 512 N. Killingsworth St.  It's FUN, FREE, & family friendly.  See you at the movie!
