Paulson withdraws Beaverton Triple A stadium proposal

SENTINEL NEWS SERVICE

FROM WWEEK
"Portland Beavers owner Merritt Paulson has just withdrawn his proposal to build a new Triple-A baseball stadium in Beaverton.
Here’s his Dear John letter [PDF] to Beaverton Mayor Denny Doyle. In the letter, Paulson says the lack of a stadium location under city control and no firm financial commitment yet in place from the city add up to make it impossible to meet the timelines needed to have a new park ready for the start of the 2011 baseball season."

article "Sweet QuinceaƱera" - to the writer

Hi. Great to see the paper continue with such great progress! I would like to make one observation which is a very common mistake made by many local newspapers here: the word "Quinceañera" refers to the girl celebrating her 15th Birthday - her ""Quince Años". So, the celebration is called the "Quince Años". It is like in the song "Guantanamera" - there it refers to the girl from "Guantanamo". So once again, "Quinceañera" refers to the girl that is celebrating her 15th Birthday and "Quince Años" is the celebration itself.  So, on the front page "Sweet Quinceañera" is correct but down below it should say "Anayeli Nieves celebrates her Quince Años at Los Prados....etc. Some times you see the invitation like this: "XV Años" (quince años). I am a native of Mexico and have been a Spanish Teacher with Portland Public Schools for many years. Gracias. Raúl Gómez
