St. Johns Bridge Cheaters Dangerous, Changes Needed
Posted by: Rfreeman on Apr 21, 2009When I drive home from Portland at the end of a work day, there is often a long backup to get over the St. Johns bridge and into St. Johns. There are two lanes which condense into one lane at the top of the hill as one nears the bridge. Everyone is going to the same place, since the only option is to turn right onto the bridge.
Portland City Council to Vote on Soccer Plan Wednesday Morning
Posted by: Rfreeman on Mar 10, 2009

Commissioner Randy Leonard and Mayor Sam Adams have worked out a plan to bring MLS soccer to Portland that will be presented to the full City Council in the morning for a vote.
The plan would involve borrowing money through the sale of bonds to finance the project. The Beavers would be moved far away to a new stadium in the Lents Neighborhood (SE 82nd), and PGE Park would be remodeled and dedicted to the soccer team. The plan depends on the State Legislature approving the use of your tax dollars to pay players. You can read the full story at http://www.bizjournals.com/portland/stories/2009/03/09/daily20.html?ana=from_rss
The question I'd pose to soccer fans is this: if access to world class soccer is your goal, how many Pilots games have you attended?
3 votes from the City Commission are needed to pass the plan. You can contact the commissioners at amanda@ci.portland.or.us, dan@ci.portland.or.us, nick@ci.portland.or.us

North Portland Precinct Closure = Fewer Patrols

Here's what Rosie (Down)Sizer doesn't want you to know. At the last meeting regarding the closure of the North Portland precinct, a valid concern about the loss of patrols in the area was raised by an attendee. The very real problem is this: when police are dispatched from St. Johns to patrol an area of North Portland, their patrol starts immediately.

Posted by: Rfreeman on Jan 30, 2009On 1/30/09, the clerk at the NW Glisan Trader Joe's asked me my zip code while I was checking out. Companies do this kind of data gathering periodically to find out where their customers live. Shop now and give your zip to send a message to Trader Joe's that a North Portland location is in demand!
