James Yeary Still Has a Mustache

Cloud Rag, Wipes Away the Gray

By Chelsia Rice

Jeff Diteman and James Yeary have no idea what they’re doing. But you wouldn’t know from looking through their first issue of Cloudrag. Diteman and Yeary are looking for “works of exceeding brilliance, dazzling spontaneity, cunningly audacious insurrection and mind-altering cosmopolitical noise in both lyrical and prose forms.”

An “occasional anthology of literary and sundry arts,” Cloudrag presents both literary and visual artistry. The first issue is already on the shelves and the second is ready to go.

Originally, Diteman and Yeary wanted a platform to showcase all the creative talent they’ve come across in Portland. But the anthology ended up being less local and more international with work from individuals in both Germany and Mexico. Diteman is thrilled the issue has an international edge.

After months of conjecture and despite some community resistance, Walgreens is still the reigning contender in who will occupy the Sterling Auto/Rose City site on North Lombard.

“It’s a much slower process than I thought it would be, but Walgreens is still the front runner,” said Fred Bauer Jr., owner of the Sterling Auto site.
