RIP:
The Portland Sentinel

2004-2010, Portland Oregon

THE
GREATEST COMMUNITY NEWSPAPER OF ALL TIMES

A newspaper, a blog, and community of aspiring and perspiring journalists

The Portland Sentinel was a hyperlocal newspaper and daily news blog that covered Sauvie Island, St. Johns and the North/Northeast districts of Portland, Oregon. The paper combined intimate storytelling of the community news with the creative energy of the alternative press.

The paper one the 2010 Society of Professional Journalists of Oregon/SW Washington award for Best Online Coverage.

In 2009, the City of Portland ranked PortlandSentinel.com among the ten most influential news sites in the city for public opinion and policy.

We worked hard, and it was all spelled correctly.
